Europa long-wing registered as glider for IFR

I am interested in an EXP motorglider with "night and IFR if so equipped" in the operating limitations. The Europa seems to fit. I am a PP/ASEL/IA concerned about what happens if I lose the medical. A motorglider would let me use the IA rating, fly higher and at night, so it is much better than the Sport Pilot opton. I would need to get the /G and self-launch endorsement, and equip the Europa for night and IFR. Any suggestions appreciated.
