I turned a shoulder on the castellated lock nuts, then TIG welded in place, the mounting plate pivot bracket was ground off, repositioned and re-TIG-welded in place and the handles were cut down and re-TIG-welded to a size that allowed your knuckles to clear the fuse. There isn't much load on the wheels so the short lever arm of the handles should not be a problem.
It also aids install having only one piece of hardware instead of two.
This pic shows the tip of the starboard dummy spar that is the shape of Mod 78.
He cut off the pivot and moved it way up on the jack, then rotated 45 degrees to allow hand cranking without hitting your knuckles on the fuse while all the time not sticking out very far.
Also cut down the arm length to make a nice concise fit of things.
These jacks do pivot (they have a spring loaded detente pin), so they can be rotated making a smaller footprint when storing.
You see Art cleaning up the target area where the pivot bracket is going to be remelted (re-TIG-welded) to.

We purchased these I think off of E-Bay several years ago.
Once Mod 78 is complete and glider wings rigged, the cow-bell will be removed.
Thus this dummy spar will fit now with the cow-bell installed and later once the cow-bell is removed.
