Dug out foam from cover and floxed. Then sandwiched between 2 plates to hold edges flat. We dug out especially a lot on corners where we will drill and countersink for 8-32 screws. To insure that edges flush, used Ace Hardware plastic stepped shims. Handy and work well to get a desired parallel thickness.
