"STRUCTURAL BALSA" ??
Here is soon to be top battery clamp, took 1/2" thick Balsa 1" wide and drilled two 1/2" holes and tapered all edged to a centered 1/8". Then JB KWIKed .032" G-10 to all 1/2" edges after it was scuff sanded. Holes will be filled with flox, edges will be filled with flox, then 2 G-10 covers will be floxed on top in recessed cavity to better take washer loads. Clamp will get 1 ply top and bottom of carbon fiber. Most anyone really wanting to fly a Europa would have cut a piece of aluminium "U" channel or made a metal strap, drilled two 1/4" holes and continued on with build. Our "Structural balsa" clamp will get a layer of Home Depot foam on bottom to have Odyssey PC545 completly held in place with some viabration dampening and allow a reasonable amount of area for cooling.
