Designed to hang vertically, either end up, this is a 1/4wave monopole vertical. The active portion is the vertical section, an ACS part no.11-17980, [designed to stick out of aluminum surface] - the lower cone is the ground plane at 45deg to direct greatest signal strength horizontally, as a doughnut.
