Finally, for today, soldered a plug onto the end of the roll trim cable. Managed to burn the end of one finger while doing this. I really don't like to solder. Perhaps tomorrow I'll be able to install the mating plug onto the end of the roll trim cable on the port wing. Perhaps it will wait till even later...
