2010 03 19 - Checked to see if the new brake banjo hardware would work while completing the Annual Condition Inspection on the Europa. This is a comparison of the original fitting from the brake with the new banjo bolt that's supposed to work. Close, but no cigar. The banjo bolt is a 3/8 x 24 UNF thread. I have no idea what the original fitting thread standards are. We know they are not NPT as a 3/8 NPT fitting won't go in. I wonder if they might be 3/8 x 19 British Standard Whitworth? Why in the name of perdition anyone would still use a Whitworth fitting these days would be beyond me! I thought you blokes stopped using the Whitworth standard when MG closed its doors. I have a 3/8 NPT banjo bolt on order from anplumbing.com but i doubt that it will work here.
