Here you see one of the two beautiful switches we purchased from McMaster Carr.
The switch will be attached to the plane by first screwing to a piece of G-10, (that will be form fit to the fuse shape), using #2 Torx head, Trilobal Stainless Steel screws for plastic, then floxxing the G-10 to the fuse. The Trilobal screws have a #7 driver and are somewhat resistant to loosening, although I will still put a star washer under head and probably a dab of JB KWIK weld for good measure.
There is a plastic conduit that chases our roll bar into the ceiling on both sides of the plane, (just above this switch).
Now need to get wires up through tunnel. Going to use 1/4" OD snap bushings, problem is they are too short.
You can see completed snap bushing installed here, just forward of Tufnal block. Details of how to make a long snap bushing follows.
Alan used a Dremil tool with flap wheel and hurt fiberglass on center anchor. First covered hurt area with 3 plies of thin model aeroplane cloth. The anchors and fuse are scuff sanded, then JB KWIK welded in place, then a little flox and 3 thin model aeroplane plies.
The fourth anchor is for airbrake reed and is located on gear tufnal guide. A little hard to see, but next pict shows it better.
This leaves a nice rounded entry and exit. I didn't want to make a huge hole for rubber grommet. Wires going to reed switches will be 2 conductor shielded. Reason for shielding is for robustness. Snap bushings were floxed in place. By leaving 1/2 remaining on each side, there was 1 snap that will get nice and stuck once flox cures.
