Note when Jan de Jong came by hangar we were looking at this Teflon coated wire to use as hinge pin. The PTFE, (teflon), coating is only a few tenths thick, (.00025" to .0005"), according to McMaster.
You can get it in a size larger than is provided with extruded hinge.
