Richie first scuff sanded 1/2 of connector that is not being used (including the holes) and first filled holes with JB Weld KWIK. Then JBed some thin G-10 to sides after scuff sanding all. then JBed a spacer G-10 to make pot a nice fit. This is a 1/4 watt 5 turn pot. Plenty small. Will solder wires to pot surface mount tabs then JB the pot and wires between G-10 sides.

We are plumbing Dynon D10A AOA audio to PMA 4000 audio panel. Need a 10K pot for trimming so descided to mount it in the D-sub connector.

Not a trivial job to get Vertex PTT to be controlled by PMA4000.
We removed the PTT switch which happens to actually be two switches.
We are replicating this function with a DPDT relay. The PTT pin of PMA4000 will ground coil and do the same thing as your thumb pushing onto two individual switches at the same time.

Becker transponder wire exit needed rerouting for a bit more aft clearance. The cover had a movable door so it was a pretty easy job to move door to aft exit and reroute coming out side.

Dynon wire exit was closer to firewall than Becker transponder. We didn't have a D-sub cover with side exit, but Art did a beautiful "Applied Arcaic Technology" job with cutters and files of mutilating existing cover to allow side exit. Black plastic plug (of course it needed modification) now fills aft exit hole.
