Pretty stiff. It's almost 50 amps if everything electrical is turned on. The ammeter is only rated at 45 amps and the wire feeding the 35 amp master breaker is a #10 AWG. This is only rated for 35 Amps. Looks like I have to go to a larger ammeter, heavier #8 wire (50 amps) and go to a 50 amp breaker. That or add another 35 amp breaker and split the load at the ammeter shunt. I think I'll add another breaker and split the load. Will also install a larger, 75 amp, ammeter.

Late start and not a whole heck of a lot done. Removed the clamps from the relocated antenna splitter. Checked it out and it seems bonded quite well. It also provides a better path for the Nav & G/S leads to radio #2.

I start work on the Instrument Rating this Friday. I didn't like the way I had positioned the two antenna splitters for the Nav radios. I was adjusting them and when I tried to tighten the nuts holding the splitter for #2 the bond holding the stud came free. I was able to remove the 2nd stud as well. I cleaned up the epoxy on the studs, mixed up a tiny batch of Araldite 420 A/B and bonded them back to the instrument panel. This time, I positioned the splitter in a better location. Spent the rest of the afternoon sanding and filling on the fuselage. Nothing worth a pic.

I now have all the plugs/connectors I need to complete the trim system. The plugs/connectors set in place on the trim relay deck. I also have the connectors for the control grips and the connector for the roll trim where the trim cable runs out to the wing. All I need now is that darned soldering tool (on back order...) so I can get all the little wires soldered to the connectors. Till then, more sanding and filling.

Darn little work today. Discussed potential work with some folks. On the way back I stopped at the Porter-Cable power too outlet. A power tool candy store. Last week, I wore out the cheepo palm sander I bought at Home Depot (or was it Lowe's, I don't remember...) back a year or so ago. I decided to take the advice of Roy and Bill and check out the refurbished tools at Porter-Cable. Good advice. Bought two refurbished Porter-Cable sanders for about what the cheepo versions at the home store would have cost. New palm sander (left) and new detail sander (right). Ran the detail sander for a couple hours. Very nice. You can tell they are built much better than the home store stuff. Good advice, thanks Roy and Bill. I'll be giving them a better workout tomorrow afternoon.
