Cut out the areas where there are wire bundles entering or were there are interfering bulges on the back of the firewall. After spending several weeks trying to fit the insturment panel. I have come to the conclusion there's just too much stuff to fit in the available space. A 1/2 inch (12 - 13 mm) spacer is needed between the firewall and the instrument panel. I have cut the initial shape out of 0.67 inch (17 mm) plywood.
