Then put all the srpings/bolts back together. This all took about 90 minutes or so to accomplish for both outrigger. Had to go help a friend with a chore at 1800 hrs so I still haven't had time to do the engine run up. Will do that tomorrow morning and if all works well, after another very thorough pre-flight, I'll have another go at the landing practice dance with Little Dragon Lady. Had to disassemble all the spring/bolt mechanisms to free up the outrigger. Used my knee to support the outrigger in retracted position so I could gain access to the mess. Went over to starboard outrigger to check it. What a mess! After tightening it, I remember receiving an e-mail about the first flight from someone commenting about the starboard outrigger drooping. Wish I could find the e-mail so I could thank them. 2009 03 16 - After a day of work on Toots, I went to the hanger to run the Rotax and check the charging voltage. For some reason, I pulled out the check list and decided to go over it in great detail before I did the engine run. Not sure why, but seemed like a good idea at the time. Came to the "Port Outrigger Down & Locked" part. This time I went around front to check it. Uh oh... The nut on the bolt connecting the OR4 to the OR5 was almost off! This was not a good thing. Bushing was out of place, things floating all over. Tidy up and let the aircraft back down off the supports. Now all that's left is to check the operating voltage and make sure the new battery has charging voltage. Put the fitting back through the firewall, applied the big nut and connected the fuel line to the other side. Master on, fuel pumps on, no leak!! YAAAAAA!!! Joe and Tommy working on the fitting from the front side of the firewall. We finally removed the fuel line from the fitting, removed the nut holding the fitting through the firewall and pushed the fitting back through the firewall. Then we could remove the ties, point it into a gas can and remove the fitting and stoopid DEL seal I put in there to make sure the fitting didn't leak.
