2009 08 04 - Took my thread measurement plate up to the hanger last evening. It shows that the cable end is M6x1.0. My guess was correct. McMaster-Carr should have my bag of M6x1.0 nuts waiting for me tomorrow after work. With any luck, I can have this thing back together and the carbs synchronized tomorrow evening.
