The headset speaker and mic shielded wires are also run and ready to be connected to their associated jacks.
Note that all wires on both sides of the warning board that had potential to move about are either held in place with Shoe-Goo, Kevlar thread or both.
The red and black wire snuck behind the circuit board and wound with Teflon spiral wrap is going to the siren.
Here you are looking inside port headrest at our conduit that is situated just below the gear/door warning siren.
You can just about see the conduit when you look from the starboard side of the plane.
We left the conduit about 1/8" proud of the headrest on each side and to bond it in place put a mini fillet of Aeropoxy / 60 minute flox between the 1/8" overhang of the conduit and the headrest.
First thing was to grind off the weld bead on the aft side of the hole saw. You can see the weld ground off on the prior pict.
I used a belt sander to begin with, then proceeded to use a grindstone and finished off with the belt sander.
Then my extra long 1/4" drill bit became not so long. We needed to harvest a piece of 1/4" drill rod with no flutes on it. After cutting the shank off with the grind stone and smoothing both ends, I ground a flat on the portion that aligns with the setscrew.

There are a lot of wires on the aft side of our port headrest that need to get into the fuse conduit.
I was fooling to come up with a conduit design, tainting my efforts at sneaking under the aft headrest cover, then sneaking under the plywood conduit cover into the fuse conduit. Alan who was also studying the situation, suggested to perhaps go "subterranean", (below cockpit module but above fuel tank). Hmm, a consideration, but didn't like idea enough to go forward with it. It would be hard to snake wires, and would weaken the CPM along the way. Without missing a beat he suggested to perhaps run a conduit through the back of the port headrest and come out through the outboard side, (right next to wire run). Using my normal logic to look for a reason to not do something, (especially when it is not an idea of my own!), but if you can't find a good reason, any good reason then you have to do it.
P.S. a conduit is going to be installed through back of port headrest coming out the outboard side! Great idea Alan!!
We selected a piece of black plastic sprinkler hose as used for wire run in wings. I even had a hold saw of the appropriate size close at hand.
One problem that needs to be overcome is how to drill on a 45 degree angle to surface and not have the hole saw walk outboard.
Here you see 1/4" pilot drill (with flat).
Even though I made the drill rod pilot extra long, it ended up that even when only holding the hole saws hex shaped shank by 1/8" in the chuck of my drill, I was only able to drill about 80% of the way through the second side of the headrest. I was able to turn around the drill rod pilot and aligned the flat with the setscrew which in turn gave me a much longer shank on the hole saw! Instead of holding onto the hex shank of the holesaw with my chuck, I was grabbing onto the 1/4" round drill rod pilot. It's true there was no longer a pilot, but it ends up that I didn't need one because the hole saw was already 80% through, and the cut was good enough to act as a pilot. Worked great!
It took less time to make both holes than it did to describe the procedure.
