Adjustable extension A frame ladder 2.
There is no mechanical tie from one side of the A to the other, instead the "spread your legs, but not too far" is accomplished by some sort of stop mechanism in the pivoting head. This is according to Wayne and Alan's word who have a much smaller version of a Little Giant ladder.
