Saved bout half an oz by cutting holes with Unibit (this is after wetting out all untreated edges with Aeropoxy). Needed to cut half way from one side, then come in from other side to prevent thin model aeroplane glass from getting hurt.

D-cover carbon fiber tubes go through these fiberglass tubes (nice fit) to help support shelf in addition to the 4 screws that are holding the shelf flanges to the baggage bay.
To drop shelf down for aft access just need to remove D-cover, 4 screws then shelf folds out of the way.
Fiberglass tubes are JB KWIKed to balsa, then balsa JB KWIKed to shelf, then a little flox and 3 plys of thin model aeroplane cloth up and over.
Layout of wires figured out. Ready to trim shelf to size and bond in wire and cable holders.

Shelf trial mounting with recorder mounted to it. This arrangement allows access to memory card/s and remote functions with D-cover in place.
