2008 10 12 Saturday was a writeoff. Sunday was supposed to be a writeoff as well, but chings changed that morning. So back to the hanger Sunday morning at 0745 hrs. Spent 5 hours crimping pins onto the ends of wires to the headset/mike jacks and checking them to make sure where they went. Then added the D-Sub connectors. A female plug to the Pilot side and male plug to the copilot side. Should ensure they are not crossed in the future. Used tiewrapes to hold the plugs together. Put a couple screws in to hold the panel in place and powered up the radios. Halliluja! They worked! I can now select either nav/com and transmit/receive on the appropriate one. Did a radio check with KDTO Ground and got a "Loud and Clear" response. Screwed the instrument panel face back on. Not out of the woods quite yet. Still need to test the GPS and Nav side of the radios.
